As we have experienced and heard from all the old Sour Doughs, Alaska is changing. From winters with no snow to then summers hotter than a 2 Dollar pistol and so hard to predict when wanting to grow crops or animals. University of Alaska Fairbanks has released a series of Alaskan Plant Hardiness Zone maps to show the projected changes we are on the path to see over the next 80+ years. This is reflective to some of the changes also noted in the USDA Plant Hardiness Zone map for the whole of the USA, however it has not been updated sense 2012 and does not show a future projection at all. To know exactly how this might affect your planting ability and timeline, please follow the link and review the growing season chart for you town or village with the last and first frost calculated for the next 80+ years as well as the expected amount of growing days.
