Compared to the lower 48 states, Soil Health looks a lot different for farmers tough enough to farm in the Last Frontier.

Practices like no-till and cover crops are uncommon here, due to several unique challenges.

For one, Alaska’s climate is brutally cold. Soils stay frozen most of the year; and depending on what part of the state you’re in, soil temperatures barely rise above freezing.
