As we enjoy the winter season and get outside as much as we can, green is a color we can still enjoy thanks to our wonderful verity of evergreens found across Alaska. So, while you go out with your family and discover the winter greens, look for some of these telltale signs to know just what type of tree you are looking at. For a quick method for determining if the evergreen tree is a fir or spruce you can use the feel method which states: “The general rule is that spruce needles are sharp and pokey, while fir needles are soft and blunted.”
